Job Description

The Rad Tech reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities
  • Utilizes markers on a consistent basis.
  • Instructs and prepares patients for radiographic and/or fluoroscopic examinations.
  • Demonstrates overall knowledge of exams.
  • Produces high quality films on a consistent basis.
  • Understands and properly uses CR, the PRID, ADC Multiloader, and QS workstation.
  • Writes complete patient histories for the radiologists.
  • Utilizes PACS with few errors.
  • Demonstrates overall efficiency of work and time by using slow periods constructively, such as stocking rooms, emptying linen, putting away supplies, and helping transport.
  • Assesses patient pain that interferes with the imaging procedure and contacts the physician for intervention when appropriate.
  • Uses Pyxis appropriately, understanding medication availability for procedures, and verifies medication with the doctor.
  • Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures (e.g., good handwashing).
  • Multitasks in several areas.
  • Acknowledges exams on a timely basis and completely.
Qualifications Required
  • Graduation from an approved school of Radiology Technology, either college‑affiliated or hospital‑trained.
  • American Registry of Registered Technologist (ARRT) within 3 months of graduation; new graduates must have a Certificate of Completion from the college.
  • Certified by the State of Illinois to practice and administer radiation (IEMA). New graduates must apply for a temporary license, valid for two years.
  • CPR – Basic Life Support.
  • Physical Demands: lift/carry up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 50 pounds.
Preferred
  • Bachelor of Science degree.
  • Previous Rad Tech experience.

Internal employees and rehires who left Northwestern Medicine within 1 year are not eligible for the sign‑on bonus. Exception:
New graduate internal employees seeking their first licensed clinical position at NM may be eligible depending on the job family.
