Materials Superintendent

Job Description
  • Partner with the Materials Manager to ensure that the site workforce is deployed to execute strategic priorities focusing on Customer Service, Material Flow, and Inventory Accuracy.
  • Provide day‑to‑day leadership and supervision in the achievement of Safety, Quality, Productivity, Schedule attainment, Employee programs and Cost to the salaried and hourly levels within Materials.
  • Develop strong relationships with cross‑functional groups (managers, project leads, quality, Mfg. engineers, etc.).
  • Coach and support all areas and supervision for the entire Materials operation including a third‑party Receiving and Warehouse.
  • Provide daily communication and coordination within a multiple shift operation.
  • Monitor and ensure a Safe work environment.
  • Proactively assess the Safety Condition and correct Safety issues.
  • Ensure compliance with Safety, Quality, Environmental and Productivity standards by tracking useful KPIs daily and using the data to drive corrective action.
  • Assign work tasks according to priority and Employee to meet or exceed the production schedule.
  • Plan and organize activities to meet production deadlines.
  • Encourage proper work performance by departmental employees through positive reinforcement; enforce policies and procedures and apply disciplinary action as needed.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects and encourage others to participate.
  • Assist in preparation of department budgets and adhere to it.
  • Prepare and maintain inventory accuracy reports and records, taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Drive process consistency and standardization across all areas of Materials with a strong understanding of Material Flow and PFEP.
Required
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field plus 5 years of experience.
  • Required experience must include any amount of experience with all of the following:
  • Generating process mapping documentation containing specifications, engineering reports, plans, and procedures.
  • Troubleshooting material processes and teaching and applying 7‑Step Problem‑solving to resolve downtime events.
  • Chairing and participating in Material Flow engineering requirements reviews, design reviews, and leading internal and external packaging improvements.
  • Monitoring systematic processes to ensure proper product consumption to maintain optimal stock levels, reduce excess inventory, and prevent stockouts.
  • Planning, mapping, and improving delivery methods.
  • Documenting and creating Standard Work and visual management systems for multiple levels of leadership and operations.
  • Occasional telecommuting is permitted.
  • Must also have authority to work permanently in the U.S.
