Overview
Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a full‑time Logistics Engineer (Technical Writer / Illustrator) in Huntsville, AL. The role focuses on producing high‑quality technical publications—manuals, SOPs, CDRL documents, maintenance guides, presentations and training materials—alongside accompanying graphics that meet MIL‑STD 40051 and other DoD standards.
ResponsibilitiesAs a Logistics Engineer, you will collaborate with Technical Writers, Sustainment Teams, System Engineering, subject matter experts and program managers to ensure technical accuracy, visual consistency and compliance throughout the document lifecycle. You will produce clear, concise, visually consistent, and easily navigable technical publications that meet DoD and industry standards.
Basic Qualifications- Previous experience in Graphics Design, Logistics, Business, Education, Writing within the DoD or Commercial environment.
- Experience with graphics design using industry software like Solid Works, CoreIDRAW, Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Affinity Designer, Figma etc.
- Experience writing technical or maintenance manuals, SOPs, CDRL documentation and training materials or commercial equivalent.
- Proven interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills working closely with multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Experience using CAD/illustration tools, design, and produce high‑quality visuals (diagrams, schematics, flowcharts, screenshots, infographics, illustration assets) while adhering to MIL‑STD 40051 style guides.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the 12 Integrated Product Support elements.
- Experience in Technical Illustrator, Technical Communication, or Technical Writing with tools such as PTS Creo, AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, or Adobe Frame Maker.
- Experience conducting peer reviews of written and visual content, incorporate feedback, and certify error‑free deliverables on schedule.
- Experience with document version control, reviews, approvals, and archival using SharePoint/PLM tools.
- Active Secret Security Clearance.
This position requires a government security clearance. You must be a U.S. Citizen for consideration.

- Work Schedules:
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules. Schedules range from a standard 40‑hour, five‑day work week and may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time Off benefits. - Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off.
