- Under limited supervision, apply engineering and scientific principles to resolve materials‑related issues using Six Sigma techniques, lean manufacturing process knowledge, and sound decision‑making.
- Participate in design reviews and customer technical interchange meetings; support design processes by providing material selection recommendations, creating material specifications, reviewing design drawings, and supporting Engineering Review Boards, Process Change Boards, and Failure Review Boards.
- Develop test plans and characterize non‑metallic materials; identify, develop, and release material properties (design allowables) to support design and analysis engineering disciplines.
- Perform engineering analysis of non‑conforming hardware, coordinate analysis for disposition of Material Review Board documents, maintain interactions with customers on materials obsolescence, conduct project progress reviews, and perform failure analyses to determine root cause and document technical conclusions.
- Support Parts, Materials, and Processes flow‑down requirements from customers; complete and submit related documentation; and support customer Parts, Materials, and Processes Control Board meetings.
- US citizenship required; must obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level.
- Travel up to 15% of time annually to support work at suppliers and enterprise locations.
- Seeking candidates pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field; or have completed such a degree within the last 12 months.
- Knowledge and experience with polymer matrix composites (epoxy and phenolic resin systems), polymeric materials such as EPDM rubber, adhesives, and other non‑metallic systems.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma methodology and lean manufacturing.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team, and effective communication with customers and internal stakeholders.
