To perform a variety of operational functions that constitute the production, inspection, distribution and disposal considerations for various waste products and their waste streams.
Responsibilities- Perform assignments in accordance with established safety policies and procedures.
- Adhere to the Quality Policy and all ISO policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Comply with work rules and standards set forth in the Employee Handbook.
- Maintain good housekeeping and clean work areas in their immediate work areas or work site.
- Display appropriate work ethics in the workplace and group settings, providing a positive work environment with co‑workers.
- Refer to procedural instructions appropriate for each job, function or assignment.
- Perform any specified environmental checks designated for each job, function or assignment.
- Ensure that all work assigned to the position is performed in accordance with specifications, instructions and requirements.
- Demonstrate ability to meet environmental compliance standards on specific assignments within a reasonable time, depending on the degree of difficulty of the job functions.
- Apply theory and principles of environmental engineering to modify, test, and operate equipment and devices used in the prevention, control, and remediation of environmental pollution, including waste treatment and site remediation.
- Work with lab service providers and perform various testing in the field.
- Inspect and maintain equipment, controls, and manage hazardous waste; collect samples; manage waste operations; assist with regulatory compliance and other duties as needed.
- Produce environmental assessment reports, tabulating data and preparing charts, graphs, and sketches.
- Perform weekly site inspections and report noncompliance for immediate correction.
- Conduct daily monitoring of waste streams throughout the property to ensure compliance and report immediately on any issues.
- Monitor and report conditions that could pose a risk to environmental compliance or cause safety concerns for employees and report to appropriate management for correction.
- Manage reclaims for all waste streams and work with third‑party contract groups for proper removal, recycling, and/or disposal.
- Perform monthly inspections as indicated in permitting, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC), Storm Water Pollution Prevention (SP3), Texas Pollution Discharge Elimination Systems (TPDES) or City Discharge Permitting and requirements.
- Accomplish tasks as appropriately assigned or requested by the immediate manager for successful completion of the mission of the EHS Department.
- Promote a safe workplace by ensuring compliance with rules, issuing stop‑work and corrective action, and involvement in work order creation for identified hazards.
- Assist in onboarding of new employees, including training of safety modules.
- Utilize the Benchmark Gensuite application, using the provided iPad.
- Support and utilize management systems to conduct inspections and provide reporting.
- Must possess an education or experience level that permits effective communication and performance of the duties and responsibilities of this job. Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and/or 2‑4 years of experience.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents relating to the job, function or assignment.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical equations related to environmental management.
- Ability to make decisions when identifying in‑process problems and dealing with a variety of job assignments.
- Ability to maintain a clean work area and follow good housekeeping practices.
- Ability to follow work rules, work independently, be flexible, and be willing to perform a variety of jobs.
