Harris is excited to announce an opening for a Rubber Insulation Manufacturing Engineer at our state-of-the-art Advanced Manufacturing Facility (AMF) in Huntsville, AL. This facility is at the forefront of innovation, specializing in the fabrication and assembly of cutting-edge composite rocket motor hardware. Manufacturing Engineers lead process management activities and create associated documentation for their assigned processes.

This position requires knowledge in rubber molded product used in solid rocket motors.

Essential Job Functions:
  • 60% - Plan, develop, initiate, and maintain processes for the fabrication of advanced composite parts, including rubber sheet layup and compression molding. Write programs and create detailed work instructions, procedures, PFMEAs, and JSAs that meet design, process, quality, safety, and environmental requirements. Provide shop floor support for advanced composite manufacturing processes, ensuring expertise in rubber insulation layup is applied to optimize production and maintain high-quality standards.
  • 30% - Provide technical guidance and/or training to shop floor, design and management teams. Analyze engineering drawings and specifications in support of developing robust and advanced part and tooling designs. Interface with all of the related support groups for processes to ensure accuracy, control and safety of the personnel and quality of the hardware.
  • 5% - Perform investigations of nonconforming hardware and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • 5% - Present fabrication processes at customer readiness reviews and present process changes to customers at change board meetings.
  • Business travel up to 5% to other L3

  • Ability to obtain US Security Clearance.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 7 years of prior relevant engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 5 years of prior related engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related engineering experience.
