Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking to add a Principal / Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to its Human Systems Integration (HSI) team to work compliance on the Sentinel program. This position will be located in Huntsville, AL

The engineer may be responsible for multiple tasks within requirements, verification, and interfaces for the Sentinel program from a human engineering perspective. Responsibilities include supporting activities such as use case development, requirements definition/allocation, functional decomposition, interface definition, verification & validation, and requirements traceability.
- Contribute to system requirements development, management, and analysis for human engineering compliance documents to include Mil-Std-1472 and other applicable industry standards
- Collaborate with program IPT counterparts to develop supporting systems engineering and design artifacts
- Be proficient in the development of key system engineering artifacts such as requirement specifications and interface definition documents
- Ensure appropriate coordination between SEIT Human Systems Integration and other design and integration teams
- Participate in technical planning, verification and validation development, cost and risk considerations, and requirements analyses for integrated systems

Work Schedule: This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Basic Qualifications- Senior Principal Engineer:
Preferred – Bachelor’s Degree in STEM fields (e.g., Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related discipline such as human factors or psychology) with 8 years of experience; or Master’s degree (preferred) with 6 years of relevant work experience; or PhD with 4 years of relevant work experience. - Principal Engineer:
Preferred – Bachelor’s Degree in STEM fields (e.g., Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related discipline such as human factors or psychology) with 5 years of experience; or Master’s degree (preferred) with 3 years of relevant work experience; or PhD with 1 year of relevant work experience.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance and an investigation date within the last 6 years
- Must be able to be successfully screened for Enhanced Security Clearances within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs
- Experience in a fast-paced work environment and ability to work in a team environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to present to segment, program, and customer community
- Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and engineering scheduling tools or applications
