Senior Structural Analyst – Huntsville, AL

Our client headquartered in Virginia is seeking a Senior Structural Analyst based in Huntsville, Alabama. The position reports to the Engineering Manager and offers a hybrid workplace with two remote days. The Senior Structural Analyst will perform structural analysis and develop computational models for military systems.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform relationally linked modeling, Load and Stress analysis, Safety Margin assessments, datum scheme establishment and tolerance stack‑up analysis
  • Develop free‑body diagrams for internal and reaction load derivation; to perform stress analysis of internal loads and/or damage tolerance to support program design, fabrication, testing, and/or structural integrity activities
  • Component and assembly‑level design including establishment of datum schemes, safety margin and tolerance analysis
  • Design and analysis of composite and metal structures, including bonded and bolted assemblies under static and dynamic load conditions
  • Create, interpret and maintain detailed engineering drawings, BOM management skills and Interface Control Documents (ICD)
  • Perform trade studies and establish the overall missile configuration based on requirements

Skills/Requirements:

  • Knowledgeable in metallic and composite materials, including manufacturing methods and structural applications
  • Familiar with Design‑to‑Cost principles
  • Exposure to classical aerospace sizing methods (ex: Bruhn, Niu, Roark)
  • CAD Automation, programming, structural modeling and script development a plus
  • FEA experience for high‑g environments such as missiles, flight vehicles, munitions, cannon fired or projectile based systems a plus
  • Must be willing to travel to various locations as required

Qualifications:

  • 10+ Years of Structural Analysis experience with Bachelor’s degree or 8+ Years with Master’s degree (missile system airframe preferred)
  • 5+ Years of classical hand calculation, FEM & FEA experience including boundary conditions, 2‑D/3‑D connections, contact and verification methods (Siemens Simcenter Structures and FEMAP preferred)
  • 2+ Years of experience with CAD (Siemens NX preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year College or University in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Master's degree or Doctor of Philosophy degree from an accredited College or University a plus
  • Must be US Citizen and eligible to obtain US DoD Secret Clearance (active clearance a plus)
