An Engineering Technician Level IV will provide semi-professional technical support to engineers in research, design, development, testing, or manufacturing process improvement related to electrical, electronic, or mechanical components.

• Provide technical support for engineering projects.
• Prepare design drawings and assist with the design, evaluation, and modification of machinery and equipment.
• Perform non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity, using operational precedents.
• Receive technical advice from supervisors or engineers and review work for technical adequacy.
• Develop or review designs by extracting and analyzing engineering data, applying conventional engineering practices to produce schematics, electrical drawings, parts lists, and specifications.
• Conduct complex tests or experiments, select and adapt test equipment and procedures, record data, and prepare test reports.
• Apply methods to research and development projects, construct experimental or prototype models, test and redesign as necessary, record and evaluate data, and report findings.
• Extract and compile engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc., process data, identify errors, and present data.
• Assist in design modification by compiling data on specifications and materials, identifying inconsistencies or gaps, and seeking clarification sources.

Operations may occur in hazardous research and test facilities, laboratories, chambers, and test stands. Specialized environments include cryogenics (liquid hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, helium), gaseous fuels, high‑pressure systems, hypergols, solid propellants, explosives, toxic materials, confined space, and compliance with cleanliness and safety standards.

• Lift up to 40 lbs.
• Bend, crouch, crawl, climb stairs/ladders, pull cables/wires.
• Use proper PPE for all tasks.

• Communicate with peers, supervisors, and customers.
• Work independently or in a team.
• Follow written and verbal instructions, with or without accommodation.

Must meet eligibility for a Public Trust background investigation and pass a security background check per Redstone Arsenal/MSFC requirements.
