Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking to add a Principal / Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to its Human Systems Integration (HSI) team to work compliance on the Sentinel program. This opening is in Huntsville, AL or Roy, UT.

Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities, and associated infrastructure. The selected engineer may be responsible for multiple tasks within requirements, verification, and interfaces for the Sentinel program from a human engineering perspective.

The Systems Engineer may be responsible for supporting activities including use case development, requirements definition / allocation, functional decomposition, interface definition, verification & validation, and requirements traceability.

Responsibilities may include:
  • Contribute to system requirements development, management, and analysis for human engineering compliance documents to include Mil-Std-1472 and other applicable industry standards
  • Collaborate with program IPT counterparts to develop supporting systems engineering and design artifacts
  • Be proficient in the development of key system engineering artifacts such as requirement specifications and interface definition documents
  • Ensure appropriate coordination between SEIT Human Systems Integration and other design and integration teams
  • Participate in technical planning, verification and validation development, cost and risk considerations, and requirements analyses for integrated systems
Basic Qualifications
  • Senior Principal Engineer: A Bachelor’s Degree in STEM fields such as Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline (e.g., human factors or psychology) from an accredited university is preferred, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree (preferred) in a STEM-related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD in a related field with 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Principal Engineer: A Bachelor’s Degree in STEM fields such as Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline (e.g., human factors or psychology) from an accredited university is preferred, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master’s degree (preferred) in a STEM-related field with 3 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD in a related field with 1 year of relevant work experience.

  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years
  • Must be able to be successfully screened for Enhanced Security Clearances, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs
  • Experience in fast-paced work environment and ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to segment, program, and customer community
  • Experience using Microsoft (MS) Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Project and Engineering Scheduling tools or applications.
