Overview
Astrion is seeking a Engineering Technician IV position in support of the METTS III contract at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) on the Redstone Arsenal located in Huntsville, Alabama. This full‑time, first‑shift role works a 4–10 schedule (6:00 am–4:30 pm) Monday–Thursday. The role does not require a clearance or a specific certification.
Required Qualifications / Skills- High school diploma with at least two (2) years of directly related experience maintaining and operating industrial pressure systems – active support of METTS III program.
- Knowledge of pressure system operations at a NASA facility is strongly desired.
The Engineering Technician IV provides semi‑professional technical support for engineers in research, design, development, testing, and manufacturing process improvement.
Responsibilities include:
- Working with electrical, electronic, or mechanical components or equipment.
- Preparing design drawings and assisting with design, evaluation, and modification of machinery and equipment.
- Performing non‑routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity, including planning, executing, and reviewing work for technical adequacy.
Typical duties include:
- Developing or reviewing designs by extracting and analyzing engineering data, and preparing schematics, specifications, electrical drawings, and parts lists.
- Conducting complex tests or experiments, preparing and operating equipment, recording data, and preparing test reports.
- Assisting in design modification, compiling data, and identifying inconsistencies or gaps.
- Working in unique, “one‑of‑a‑kind,” and/or hazardous research and test facilities, with specialized skills from on‑the‑job training and certification.

The role requires work in indoor and outdoor test areas, laboratories, chambers, machine shops, and other facilities, with exposure to cryogenics, gases, high‑pressure systems, hazardous materials, confined spaces, and other specialized equipment. Employees may work in cold and hot weather conditions and at heights.
Physical RequirementsWith or without reasonable accommodation: lifting up to 40 lbs, bending, crouching, crawling, climbing stairs or ladders, and pulling cables or wires. Proper PPE must be used for all tasks.
