Systems Engineering Group, Inc. (SEG) is a highly regarded provider of air and missile defense threat engineering and combat, radar, and missile systems engineering and analysis. Principal customers include the U.S. Navy, Missile Defense Agency, and DoD prime item developers. SEG is headquartered in Columbia, MD with offices in Dahlgren, VA, Moorestown, NJ, and Huntsville, AL and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Astrion Corporation.
SEG is seeking enthusiastic candidates to be part of our threat and interceptor missile modeling and simulation team located in Huntsville, AL. This position directly supports the Navy’s Digital Threat Engineering team, MDA Threat Engineering Team, and MDA/AB Threat and MDA/AB Threat Systems Engineering team that provides high fidelity U.S. interceptor missile systems simulations and threat engineering simulations of anti-ship cruise missile, anti-ship ballistic missiles, hypersonic glide vehicles, hypersonic cruise missiles, aero-ballistic missiles, and other foreign missile and aircraft systems that threaten the United States and its allies.
SEG provides an intellectually stimulating environment with excellent opportunities for technical and leadership growth.
- US citizens with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance; SCI eligible is preferred
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering (advanced degrees preferred)
- At least 10+ years of applicable work experience
- Experience and capability in analysis and modeling of ballistic missile, cruise missile, and/or hypersonic systems including flight dynamics, vehicle performance characterization, propulsion system design, supersonic/hypersonic aerodynamics prediction, guidance, navigation, control, and flight test data analysis
- Familiarity with MATLAB and/or Python programming languages
- Effective written documentation and oral presentation skills
- Leadership skills; ability to mentor and train others as well as lead a multi-disciplinary team to develop high quality products in a timely and cost-efficient manner

- Active DoD Top-Secret clearance desired
- Develop US scientific and technical all-source intelligence-based simulations to characterize the flight performance of threat ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, aero-ballistic missiles, hypersonic cruise missiles, and hypersonic glide vehicle performance for use in supporting Golden Dome America and MDA missile defense acquisition programs as well as Navy operational testing of hardkill and softkill performance via models and simulation.
- Develop U.S. interceptor missile flight simulations (3
DOF to 6
DOF) and models for the evaluation of interceptor performance versus threat missile systems. - Design and implement 6
DOF aerodynamics, mass properties, propulsion system performance, guidance, navigation, and control algorithms, seeker/sensor algorithms for search, detection, track, and decision logic for target selection and ECCM. - Characterize threat missile performance envelopes including intelligence uncertainty impacts on overall flight performance and characteristics affecting Navy radar and weapon system designs.
- Develop and use optimization tool suites for advanced interceptor and foreign missile system guidance and control system techniques.
- Execute design trade studies to fill intelligence gaps informing decisions regarding engineering modeling and simulation representations of foreign missile systems.
- Model threat flight variations due to environmental factors, modeling uncertainties, and missile-round to round variations.
- Document and present work to internal and external customers.
- Support ongoing activities in developing a high fidelity Six Degrees-of-Freedom (6-DOF) digital flight simulation architecture and environment.
- Ongoing development and refinement of flight optimization software and AI/ML efforts to support Navy, Missile Defense Agency, and Golden Dome America defensive weapon systems.
