Job Description: AVNIK has an immediate opportunity for a Data Scientist or Data Analyst to provide analysis using USG Modeling & Simulation (M&S) tools for sustainment engineering to the CCDC AvMC. BS + 5 years of experience or MS + 3 years of experience required. As part of our engineering team, you will conduct sustainment analysis for Government weapon systems, develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
The candidate will provide engineering support in logistics, sustainment, and procurement analysis. Responsibilities include identifying, researching, and analyzing data sources to extract critical information for engineering analysis while maintaining close relationships with AvMC personnel. You must clearly express ideas, work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team, and operate fluidly in a multi‑tasking environment.
Responsibilities- Interface with customers to define M&S requirements
- Develop software pipelines to manage the M&S environment
- Provide charts, graphs, data analysis, and technical/engineering results to leadership and customers
- Interpret M&S results for customer briefing development
- Prepare and present briefings on analysis, current tasks, schedules, and goals
- Provide technical analysis on Army platform logistics and sustainment key performance metrics
- Provide input to the team on discussion of technical issues, tasks, briefings, goals, potential funding, etc.
- Resolve technical M&S issues through debugging, research, and investigation
- Manage workload across multiple projects/tasks and meet delivery schedules
- Work independently with self‑motivation
- Demonstrate professional communication skills daily
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, etc.), Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field is required with 5+ years of experience. An MS degree equals 2 years of experience. Advanced degree is a plus. Experience may be considered in lieu of education. Candidate must be a US Citizen.
Required Skills- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Advanced software development skills (e.g., Python)
- Experience with SQL databases
- Familiarity with statistical methods and theory (Linear Regression, Confidence Intervals)
- Familiarity with M&S theory (Stochastic, Deterministic, Monte Carlo, Heuristic, Discrete Event)
- Advanced MS Office (PowerPoint) skills
- Ability to clean and parse large, complex data sets
- Self‑starter, independent worker, strong work ethic
- Excellent teamwork, problem‑solving, and communication skills
- Must obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance
- Experience conducting statistical analysis
- Experience with scripting languages such as RStudio
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) – Magic Draw, Cameo
- Experience writing technical reports and developing customer briefings
- Complete Background Investigation (50 State Criminal, Education, Employment, Credit, and Driving Records checks)
- Must obtain a SECRET security clearance. Interim SECRET clearance required to begin employment; ongoing maintenance required. US citizenship required.
