Job OverviewAurex Defense is seeking a talented and experienced Mechanical Engineers to join our team. You'll be at the forefront of developing innovative hardware solutions for next-generation spacecraft, aircraft, and robotic systems. This role requires a combination of technical expertise and problem-solving skills to contribute to innovative projects.
Responsibilities- Conduct market surveys, feasibility studies and create detailed design concepts
- Conduct trade studies and perform design optimization
- Design and develop mechanical components and systems for space, aircraft, or robotic applications
- Create and manage detailed 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings in Solidworks
- Perform structural and thermal analysis on systems to ensure performance in harsh environments
- Support prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical systems, iterating designs based on test results.
- Develop and maintain test plans and procedures.
- Oversee manufacturing and assembly processes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, software engineers, and project managers
- Only U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a security clearance will be considered.
- Work in person at our corporate headquarters in Huntsville AL
- Associates degree or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, Robotics, or a related field with relevant experience in the industry
- 2-5 years of industry experience in mechanical design and development
- Proven experience in designing hardware for space, aircraft, or robotic systems
- Extensive knowledge of CAD software, preferably Solid Works
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Proficiency in using FEA modeling and simulation tools to optimize designs for performance and reliability of structural and thermal systems
- Experience with hardware development for small spacecraft and Cube Sats
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials (e.g., machining, welding, casting)
- Experience with rapid prototyping techniques (e.g., 3D printing)

The salary range for this role is $85,000-$90,000 annually. We offer a comprehensive total rewards approach to compensation, providing incentives and benefits that extend far beyond the base salary. Compensation is determined by the candidate’s work experience, education, training, and relevant skills.
