Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer (Associate or Mid-Level) to join our team located in Huntsville, AL!This position’s primary duties will be supporting BDS programs, including Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) performing First Article Inspection (FAI), Corrective Actions, Non-Conformance Review (NCR) disposition, review/approving/interpreting engineering drawing requirements, approving work instructions, and interfacing with customers and stakeholders.
This is an on-site position that currently supports a 4x10 work schedule on Shift B Monday – Thursday 4:30PM – 3:00AM. Initial training and future support may occur on variable shift. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and may change in the future based on business needs.
Position Responsibilities:Associate - Level 2:
- Researches contractual and Boeing Quality Management System requirements for applicability to specific proposals and program processes and documentation.
- Develops sections of quality metrics, design and production certification plans to ensure compliance with contractual, Company and regulatory requirements.
- Analyzes capability assessments to support supplier selection activities.
- Participates in various reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs.
- Performs data analysis to ensure manufacturing and test readiness.
- Provides material review dispositions for non-conformances.
- Analyzes non-conformance trends to evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Compiles performance reports and other statistical data to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved.
- Works under general supervision.
- Represents Quality function on team activities to integrate contractual and Boeing Quality Management System requirements into all aspects of proposals and program processes and documentation.
- Provides Quality interpretation of requirements.
- Develops quality metrics, design and production certification plans for small programs to ensure compliance with contractual, Company and regulatory requirements.
- Conducts capability assessments and process validations to support supplier selection activities.
- Participates in various reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs.
- Performs analysis, tests and process audits to ensure manufacturing and test readiness.
- Provides material review dispositions for non-conformances.
- Analyzes non-conformance trends to evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Recommends corrective actions to address non-conformances.
- Performs benchmarking and other forms of analysis to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved.
- Works under general direction.
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
- Experience with AS9100 and/or a similar Quality Management System standard
- Experience presenting technical briefings to various audiences
- More than 1 year of experience performing quantitative or statistical analysis, data collection, preparation and interpretation
- More than 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or manufacturing support environment
- More than 1 year of experience working Root Cause Corrective Action
- More than 1 year of experience working with Non-Conformance (NCR) processes
- First Article Inspection (FAI) experience
- More than 1 year of experience reading, understanding, and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
- Level 3: 3 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- More than 1 year of experience performing line stock checks
- Active U.S. Security Clearance
