Invariant Corporation is seeking an Intern with a knowledge of Systems Engineering. The Intern’s role is to assist our team while working in a hands-on laboratory environment on a variety of technical projects related to system design and analysis.

Duties Include:
  • Support development and decomposition of system and subsystem requirements.
  • Assist with system architecture, functional decomposition, and interface definition across mechanical, electrical, software, communications, and sensor subsystems.
  • Develop and maintain system diagrams, interface documentation, and technical configuration information.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews and identify integration issues, technical gaps, and system risks.
  • Support hands-on integration and troubleshooting of hardware, software, sensors, communications equipment, and computing systems.
  • Assist with development and execution of system verification, validation, and test procedures.
  • Support prototype builds, field testing, demonstrations, and engineering evaluations.
  • Perform technical trade studies and basic engineering analyses involving performance, cost, weight, power, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Support root-cause investigations and corrective actions for system-level technical issues.
  • Review vendor documentation and assist with integration of commercial and externally developed subsystems.
  • Document test results, system configurations, engineering findings, and technical recommendations.
  • Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, test, and program teams to support successful system development and delivery.
Requirements:

Scheduled to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar area of study from an ABET accredited college/university and at least 1 year of experience.

Requires ability to:
  • Obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
  • Some travel may be required depending on project requirements
  • Work well in a small, fast-paced and mission-driven environment with co-workers, management, and client
  • Demonstrate innovation, quick learning, excellent communication skills and adaptive thinking
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, and to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential

Office, Lab, and field environment.

This position is expected to be performed only in the state of Alabama.
