The Mechanical Engineering Intern will support mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) or field engineering operations under the guidance of senior engineers and project managers. This role bridges classroom engineering principles with real-world jobsite execution, system layout, and quality control.

This position will report to our office location at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL.

The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties, but not all duties performed for this position. Other duties may be assigned.

• Assist with basic mechanical system calculations, code compliance checks, and equipment selections (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, or piping systems).
• Support the production of construction documents, schematics, and 3D models using tools like Micro Station and Inroads.
• Participate in site walks and field inspections to observe construction progress, verify installations against design drawings, and coordinate multi-trade layouts.
• Assist in reviewing shop drawings, material submittals, and Requests for Information (RFIs) under senior supervision.
• Organize project deliverables, maintain technical files, and help track materials or field reports.

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related ABET-accredited program.
• Basic familiarity with CAD or BIM software (Micro Station, AutoCAD, Revit, or Navisworks) and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication, analytical thinking, time-management, and a willingness to learn on a fast-paced jobsite.
• Willingness to visit active construction sites and adhere to jobsite safety protocols (PPE such as hard hats and safety vests).

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre‑employment drug screening (post accepted offer) and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
