Medical Technologist & Lab Technician
Provides technical support to the lab by receiving/processing requisitions and specimens and ordering specified lab tests according to standard operating procedures. Responds to phone requests and enters lab test data into computer.
Education- High School diploma or GED required.
- Preferred:
Associates Degree with a minimum of 6 semester hours of chemistry and 6 semester hours of biology.
MLA certification from a nationally recognized credentialing agency (e.g. ASCP or AMT) preferred.
ExperiencePrevious work experience strongly preferred.
Keyboarding experience, 40 wpm preferred.
Additional Skills/Abilities- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast‑paced, customer‑service oriented environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality in handling patient information.
- Able to work in a high‑stress environment with little or no downtime.
- Work in a team setting and maintain absolute confidentiality.
- Absolute integrity and accuracy in patient identification process.
- Position may require flexibility related to shift end time, which may vary with workload.
