MEDICAL ASSISTANT (HUNTSVILLE, AL) (T232466)
The Medical Assistant serves a busy pediatrics outpatient clinic. Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, the role performs clinical procedures to prepare patients and/or research participants for treatment or research protocol. The assistant helps physicians or other healthcare team members with completion of treatment or protocol. The assistant performs simple, non-invasive patient procedures according to applicable policy and or protocol.
May perform various clerical and or lab duties as requested. Responds to the unique needs of all patients ages newborn through geriatric.
- Room patient, obtain vital signs, patient history, medication history, and reason for seeking care.
- Document histories accordingly in electronic medical records (EMR).
- Assist physicians or other healthcare team members with treatment.
- Administer and properly record childhood vaccinations.
- Perform various clerical and lab duties, which include: in-house labs, completing patient forms, assisting with referrals, completing medication prior authorizations, and refilling prescriptions under physicians' guidance.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Salary Range: $15.00 - $18.00
QualificationsHigh School diploma or GED required. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment. Depending on the unit/department, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required.
Preferred Skills- Experience working with patients ranging from newborns to early teens in an outpatient setting
- Experience working with Electronic Medical Records (EMRs), taking vital signs, and administering vaccinations.
- Detail oriented
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly
- Team player.
- Willing to consider candidates who meet minimum qualifications.
