Job DescriptionThe Cloud Administrator is responsible for administering, configuring, and optimizing Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 cloud environments to ensure secure, reliable, and cost-effective operations. This early career position offers the opportunity to expand expertise in cloud technologies and grow into more advanced responsibilities. Reporting to the Manager of IT/ISSM, the role focuses on user management, system configuration, automation, and customer support.
The Cloud Administrator works closely with other IT team members, end users, and vendors to deliver scalable solutions that align with organizational requirements.
- Support the administration and maintenance of Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments, including but not limited to Active Directory, Azure AD, and role-based access controls.
- Monitor system performance, availability, and cost efficiency, escalating issues as needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve Tier II technical issues related to virtual machines, networks, and cloud services.
- Assist with automation initiatives using Power Shell or similar scripting tools.
- Create and update system documentation, including process workflows and configuration notes.
- Provide employee-focused technical support, explaining solutions to non-technical users.
- Participate in cloud migrations, integrations, and modernization initiatives.
- Follow established IT policies, procedures, and security guidelines.
- Collaborate with senior team members to apply best practices in cloud operations and compliance.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, with ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders.
- Eagerness to learn new cloud technologies and contribute to process improvements.
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, evolving IT environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline; OR equivalent combination of education, certifications, and directly related experience.
- 1-3 years of hands‑on experience supporting Microsoft Azure or Microsoft 365 environments.
- Familiarity with Active Directory, Azure AD, and cloud identity management.
- Previous experience providing technical support in help desk, service desk, or systems administration role.
- Exposure to scripting tools (Power Shell preferred).
- Basic understanding of Windows or Linux systems administration (user and group management, patching, monitoring).
- Professional certifications, such as:
- Microsoft 365 Certified:
Modern Desktop Administrator Associate. - CompTIA Security+ (DoD 8570 baseline requirement).
- Experience troubleshooting virtual servers and networks in hybrid cloud environments.
- Familiarity with IT service management practices and ticketing systems (e.g., Service Now, Manage Engine, Zendesk).
- Exposure to FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, or other federal cybersecurity frameworks.
- Prior experience supporting DoD, federal, or government contracting environments.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
- Regular use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background investigation. Candidates may be subject to additional screening or security requirements in accordance with federal contracting guidelines. Active DoD clearance is not required at the time of hire but may be required for continued employment depending on the evolving scope of work. Eligible for Secret Security Clearance.
