MUST BE A US CITIZEN AND HAVE AN ACTIVE SECRET CLEARANCE (OR HIGHER). THIS POSITION IS ON SITE IN COLORADO SPRINGS, CO.

Up to 10% Launch Tech is seeking a Linux System Administrator Functional Lead to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and sustaining Linux-based systems while leading a team of administrators to ensure operational readiness and compliance. You will oversee container platforms, system hardening, and cybersecurity integration while mentoring staff to deliver excellence in mission-critical environments.

What You’ll Do As a Linux System Administrator Functional Lead, you will:
• Design, implement, troubleshoot, and sustain Linux-based physical and virtual machines for the Missile Defense Space Center
• Administer container platforms such as Open Shift, Docker, and Podman, as well as maintain multiple repositories and registries
• Oversee and perform the hardening of operating systems and ensure STIG compliance
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, Dev Sec Ops , infrastructure, and application teams to maintain system administration and compliance practices
• Manage and delegate tasking derived from project, sustainment, and break/fix activities
• Mentor a team responsible for installations, maintenance, break/fix support, and cybersecurity mitigations in accordance with policies, procedures, and service level agreements
• Develop and maintain system administration procedures and baseline configuration documentation
• Focus on creating, upgrading, managing, and sustaining physical and virtual workstations
What You Bring
Basic Requirements:
• Must have 5, or more, years of directly related experience to UNIX and/or Linux systems administration
• Must have, or obtain within 60 days of hire, a computing environment Linux certification
• Must have, or obtain within 60 days of hire, a current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g. Security+)
• Must have an active DoD Secret, or higher, Security Clearance
Desired Requirements:
• Must have a Bachelor’s, or higher, in an IT or any STEM related field
