Overview
Provide 24/7 support to the organization. Organize and plan deliverables to ensure that all data, image, and video network systems are maintained at appropriate service levels. Act as an escalation point for Level 1 and 2 System Administrators. Provide network expertise and guidance in research, evaluation, selection, development, implementation, and support. Responsible for documenting physical and logical layouts, standards in architecture, and standards for builds of file servers, application servers, and database servers across the enterprise.
Train and mentor support staff in current technologies. Monitor and troubleshoot enterprise servers. Lead disaster recovery and business continuity testing and design. Manage, organize, and prioritize projects and workload. Maintain, upgrade, and manage server operating systems, software, hardware, and servers. Install and configure software and hardware. Manage network servers and technology tools. Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements.
Troubleshoot issues and outages. Ensure security through access controls and backups. Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies, maintain internal documentation, manuals, and IT policies. Mentor junior staff and train them in work practices and tools.
Education
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field preferred. Extensive experience may be considered in lieu of degree and/or certifications.
Certifications
MCSE, VCA/VCP, or VCAP preferred.
Additional Skills/Abilities
- 5 to 8 years’ experience in a Microsoft, Linux multi-server networking environment.
- 5 to 8 years’ experience installing and supporting VMware.
- Experience working with multiple domains with mission-critical systems.
- Experience working in a large, multi-facility team environment.
- Extensive documentation experience of network topology, installation guidelines, and troubleshooting.
- Experience in setup and configuration of file servers, clustering devices, operating systems, and applications.
- Significant experience in installation, maintenance, and support of high availability systems.
- Experience working with SAN environments.
- Experience maintaining enterprise backup solutions.
- Experience in designing and implementing disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
- Experience creating automation scripts for system activities, upgrades, or changes.
- Extensive knowledge as a System Administrator, Server Administrator, or similar role.
- Experience with databases, LAN/WAN networks, and patch management.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of advanced network system design and access technologies.
- Ability to analyze, coordinate, and manage multiple technologies effectively.
- Strong organizational, technical, and managerial skills.
- Experience in project management and establishing system development protocols.
