Data Architect – Koniag Government Services
Koniag Management Solutions, LLC, Koniag Government Services is seeking an experienced Data Architect with an active Secret security clearance to support KMS and our government customer in Huntsville, AL. This is an onsite position.

Key Responsibilities- Work with the Lead Architect to design and implement enterprise data architecture, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
- Guide and mentor Database Administrators and Developers in areas such as database optimization, security protocols, and troubleshooting.
- Assist in leading data migration projects from on-premises systems (SQL Server) to modern platforms such as Azure, Vantage, and Dataverse.
- Develop and maintain complex SQL functions, stored procedures, and queries for applications and business intelligence reporting.
- Optimize database performance, including indexing, querying, and normalization.
- Architect and manage ETL processes using tools like Azure Data Factory, and equivalent Microsoft stack technologies.
- Architect data models and data flows optimized for business intelligence reporting and dashboarding.
- Ensure database integrity, security, and compliance with industry standards (e.g., DISA, DoW).
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions that align with business objectives.
- Maintain documentation, including schematics, configurations, performance metrics, user manuals, SOPs, and change management requests.
- Implement and maintain security provisions to guard against unauthorized updates, copying, or destruction of databases.
- Support risk management processes, including security technical implementation guides and plans of action and milestones.
- Act as a final escalation point for complex database incidents, providing expert analysis and resolution strategies.
- Assign metadata tags, develop search strategies, and maintain a metadata library for data analytics.
Skills and Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science and/or Computer Engineering or equivalent.
- At least 7 years of experience in database architecture design and development.
- Expertise in SQL development, including troubleshooting, debugging, and performance optimization.
- Strong knowledge of relational database management systems, indexing, querying, and normalization.
- Familiarity with integration patterns, SOA, REST, SOAP, and Enterprise Service Bus.
- Knowledge of database schemas such as star schemas, snowflake schemas, and other data modeling techniques.
- Have, or capable of obtaining within 6 months, Security+ CE, and a government approved computing education certification consistent with primary skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with the Lead Architect, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
- Experience with cybersecurity data analysis and reporting.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with Vantage (Army), Advana (DOW), or similar analytical engines.
- Completion of Oracle Database SQL Exam (1Z0-071) is a plus.
- Certifications such as:
- Google Professional Data Engineer
- Certified Analytics Professional (CAP)
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
- The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF)
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership team.
