Data Modeler – Senior – Consulting – Miami/South Florida

EY – Senior Data Modeler role; full time; location: anywhere in the United States including Miami/South Florida.

Overview: EY is a global leader in consulting and technology. In this role you will design and build analytics solutions that deliver business value, collaborating with data and analytics professionals, stakeholders, and clients across the firm. You will lead design of data models using Kimball dimensional methodology and manage data model implementation and performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead design and development of conceptual, logical, and physical data models for the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) using Kimball dimensional methodology.
  • Design and implement star schemas (fact and dimension tables) to support BI, analytics, and reporting with high performance.
  • Define and model Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD), primarily SCD Type 2, to capture historical context of dimension attributes.
  • Determine appropriate grain for fact tables and identify measurable facts and relationships to dimension tables.
  • Design highly denormalized dimension structures to simplify querying for end‑users and analytical tools.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and align models with business needs.
  • Create and maintain data dictionaries and metadata repositories for consistency and integrity.
  • Identify and resolve data model performance issues, optimizing database performance.
  • Manage and guide a small team of 1–3 resources.
  • Document and communicate data model designs and standards across the organization.
  • Develop source‑to‑target mapping (STM) documentation and data‑transformation specifications for ETL/ELT developers.
  • Stay current with industry best practices in data modelling and incorporate innovations into processes.
  • Guide team on Kimball dimensional modeling techniques and clear documentation.
  • Use industry‑standard data modeling tools such as Erwin, Power Designer, and ER/Studio.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM.
  • 7+ years of hands‑on experience in data modelling.
  • Strong understanding of SQL and dimensional modeling concepts.
  • Experience with enterprise relational databases or cloud data warehouses (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.).
  • Deep knowledge of data warehousing principles, ETL/ELT architecture, data quality, and metadata management.
  • Mastery of SCD Type 2 implementation, including surrogate keys, start/end dates, and active flags.
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into efficient technical data models.
  • Proficiency with modelling tools such as Erwin, Visio, or Power Designer.
  • Experience designing and implementing database structures and optimizing queries.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of Hospitality domain required.
  • Cloud certification is an advantage.
Desired Added Experience
  • Proven ability to navigate complex issues and make decisions.
  • Experience supervising junior team members.
  • Participation in sales opportunities and RFP responses.
  • Cloud knowledge and/or certification (Azure DP‑203 preferred).
  • Passion for innovation and emerging technologies.
  • Fluent in Spanish;
    Italian preferred.

  • Base salary range $106,900 – $176,500 (US locations).
