Position: Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engineer

Koniag Management Solutions, LLC, a Koniag Government Services is seeking an experienced Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engineer with an active Secret clearance to support KMS and our government customer in Huntsville, AL.
This is an onsite position.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Demonstrated experience with AI, machine learning, data science, or process automation concepts.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Vertex AI, Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI), or equivalent platforms.
  • Experience in developing low-code or no-code automation solutions.
  • Familiarity with Python, R, or similar programming languages used in data and AI development.
  • Familiarity with MLOps, data pipelines, or enterprise automation architectures.
  • Develop and maintain required development plans, architecture, schematics, workflows, data maps and other documentation as required.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Army or Department of Defense IT governance, cybersecurity, and data management policies.
  • Understanding of cloud-based AI and automation environments (Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, or similar).
  • Ability to integrate AI and automation solutions with enterprise platforms such as Google Cloud Vertex AI and Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Assist in the establishment of the AI/Automation technical framework, best practices, and standards of practice as the organization matures its AI capability.
  • Support development, implementation, and sustainment of the organization’s emerging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Automation program.
  • Apply data science, machine learning, and process automation techniques to design, prototype, and integrate AI-enabled capabilities that enhance mission effectiveness, decision support, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT governance, data management, cybersecurity, and mission application developers, to identify use cases suitable for automation or AI augmentation.
  • Develop, test, and deploy machine learning and automation models that support mission and business process optimization.
  • Assist in building data pipelines, model training workflows, and automated decision processes.
  • Evaluate and document AI solution performance, accuracy, and compliance with security and ethical standards.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Provide technical input to AI/Automation strategy, architecture, and governance documentation.
  • Collaborate with data analysts, developers, and process owners to identify and validate AI/automation opportunities.
  • Support technical demonstrations, proofs of concept, and pilot projects within cloud or on-premises environments.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging guidance such as AI technologies, frameworks, and DoD/Army AI policy.
Position Requirements :

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of formal education.
Certifications:
  • Active CompTIA Security+ Certification
  • DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) baseline certification - verifies foundational knowledge required for roles within the DoD.
Clearance Requirement:
  • Active or Interim SECRET security clearance, or capable of obtaining before joining
Other Responsibilities:
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Work Environment and Scope:
  • Work is primarily analytical and developmental in nature, requiring close coordination with IT, data, and mission support teams.
  • This position supports an organization at the early stage of AI/Automation program implementation and is expected to evolve as the program matures.
