Welder - 2nd Shift

Overview

• Under general supervision, fit and weld fabricated steel frames and/or metal parts on the production floor using MIG welding equipment.
• Measure and mark locations for metal components on the assembly table following blueprints. Verify position of metal components in assembly using straight edge, combination square and rule.
• Set up work; adjust and use torch and plasma cutter and/or grinder properly in standard/non-standard positions following engineering drawings/blueprints.
• Fit, tack and weld complete assemblies or fit and tack designated spots to secure work pieces for other welders. Use basic hand tools, such as tape measure, square, clamps, etc., to verify proper weld application and quality of weldments.
• Weld and fabricate multiple units manufactured by Schwarze Industries, Inc. as required.
• Operate material handling equipment and work safely within company safety policies and procedures.
• Complete product weldments to current acceptable standards in a timely manner. Check work to ensure proper weld application and quality of weldments.
• Troubleshooting and problem solving as required.
• May assist with special projects.

• High school diploma or GED certificate preferred.
• 1-2 years' experience working at Schwarze Industries, Inc. or equivalent weld/fabrication environment.
• Previous education or experience in MIG welding required.
• Ability to read blueprints with ANSI weld symbols and specifications.
• Ability to lift, push or pull 50+ lbs regularly for 8-10 hour shifts. Continuous standing.
• Capable of performing standard measurements. Good shop math skills.
• Understanding of voltage and amp settings for given requirements.
• Able to work overtime and/or weekends as scheduled.

Must be physically able to wear welding hood and required personal protective equipment including welding helmet, gloves, protective apron and/or leather attire, steel-toe shoes, and fresh air/forced air respirator as required.
