Welder - 1st Shift

FUNCTION/POSITION DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, fits and welds fabricated steel frames and/or metal parts on production floor using MIG welding equipment. Measures and marks locations for metal components on assembly table following blueprints. Verifies position of metal components in assembly using straight edge, combination square and rule.

Sets-up work; adjusts and uses torch and plasma cutter and/or grinder properly in standard/non-standard positions following Engineering drawings/blueprints.

Fit, tack and weld complete assemblies or fit and tack designated spots to secure work pieces for other welders. May use basic hand tools, such as tape measure, square, clamps, etc., to verify proper weld application and quality of weldments.

Have the knowledge and ability to weld and fabricate multiple units manufactured by Schwarze Industries, Inc.

Operate material handling equipment and operate safely within company Safety policies and procedures.

Complete product weldments to current acceptable standards in a timely manner. Check work to insure proper weld application and quality of weldments.

Troubleshooting and problem solving as required.

May assist with special projects.

Must be physically able to wear welding hood and required appropriate personal protective equipment including welding helmet, gloves and protective apron and/or leather attire and steel toe shoes and fresh air/forced air respirator as required.
