CompensationBase hourly rate: $33.30.
Night‑shift differential: $2.00 per hour.
Night shift, 5:45 pm‑6:00 am rotating schedule. This position is responsible for communicating and supporting JM core values and delivering the JM experience. The purpose of the Maintenance Technician’s role is to perform routine and non‑routine maintenance on production and facility equipment to support production of roofing materials. The role also meets facility targets for safety, productivity and machine uptime, and conducts effective problem‑solving and troubleshooting to develop corrective actions.
YourDay‑to‑Day
- Follow all Johns Manville safety and environmental procedures and policies.
- Attend plant safety and training meetings as scheduled.
- Follow Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures, use safe work practices and report hazardous conditions at all times. Wear protective clothing & equipment as required.
- Develop JSA for new tasks and review annually.
- Perform routine and non‑routine maintenance activities of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Display advanced working knowledge of electrical (single‑phase and 3‑phase), mechanical, hydraulics and pneumatics systems.
- Install and repair electrical conduit and cable, including connections, controls, grounding, etc.
- Work from electrical and mechanical schematics to troubleshoot or install new or modify existing equipment.
- Perform energy‑metering using voltmeter, ammeter, wattmeter and other electrical instruments.
- Inspect equipment and report defective parts and unsatisfactory conditions to further the preventative maintenance program.
- Maintain, adjust, service and lubricate equipment to keep it in good operating condition with proper alignment, functioning and lubrication of parts.
- Participate in continuous improvement and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) teams.
- Assist co‑workers as directed.
- Perform and complete other work as assigned by supervisor.
- Provide feedback and solutions to leadership on critical equipment issues pertaining to safety or operational capabilities.
- Show flexibility toward change management, working on cross‑functional teams, training for new tools and methodologies, and willingness to obtain operating knowledge of all production equipment.
- Participate in daily housekeeping; keep the job site clean after every job and the maintenance shop clean after each shift.
- May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
- No supervisory responsibilities for direct reports; however, the person must interact as a leader with all plant department employees.
- Work with plant supervision to communicate the status of planned jobs, unplanned jobs waiting on parts or needing engineering or technical resources.

- 2–5 years of multi‑craft maintenance experience.
- Strong commitment to safety.
- Excellent teamwork, problem‑solving, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and handle multiple priorities and projects.
- Ability to disassemble, diagnose, repair and perform preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment (pumps, gearboxes, reducers, couplings, seals, rotating elements, blowers, fans, hydraulic units, valves, chillers and compressors).
