The Advanced Practice Provider (CRNP/PA) provides comprehensive direct patient care in collaboration with the attending physicians and multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities- Obtain comprehensive patient histories and physicals as they relate to chief complaint(s), including medical screening exams.
- Order and perform appropriate diagnostic testing and screening for chief complaint(s).
- Interpret lab and imaging results to accurately diagnose illness and determine next steps for treatment and specialty consultation.
- Participate in procedural assistance as indicated by diagnosis.
- Provide health maintenance and promotion, including patient and family education, return precautions, and follow‑up instructions.
- Collaborate with the attending physician for disposition planning (discharge home, specialty consultation, or admission).
- Engage in indirect patient‑care responsibilities, including staff and student education, clinical research, program development, and quality improvement.
- Commit to ongoing learning and professional development.
- Completion of a Master of Science in Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) or graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Successful completion of a national certification exam for NP or PA.
- Current registration with the Alabama Board of Nursing and the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners (or a current Alabama PA license).
- Approval of the Huntsville Hospital credentialing board.
- BLS certification required by the end of the orientation period.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, prioritizing and changing tasks frequently.
- Works well with others in a team environment.
- Preferred experience with electronic medical records.
