Registered Nurse – ICU (Intensive Care Unit) | Travel Contract

Florence, AL | Acute Care

Contract | Travel | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | 13-Week Assignment | Expected 36 hours/week | Every other weekend required | No call requirements

• Provide direct patient care in a critical care/intensive care unit serving adult and geriatric populations, with a home unit of CCU and float capability to CVICU, Critical Care Step-Down, and Med-Surg as needed
• Manage advanced critical care skills including critical care drips and titrations, ventilator management, arterial lines, chest tubes, central venous lines (including large-volume Vas Caths), CRRT, and intra-aortic balloon pumps
• Perform and interpret ECG rhythm strips, lab values, and ABGs; perform IV starts, blood draws, and NG tube placements
• Assist physicians with bedside procedures and conscious/moderate sedation
• Communicate effectively with physicians via Tiger Connect mobile application and maintain clear communication with patients and families in high-acuity situations
• Complete all required online learning assignments including NIHSS, ACLS/BLS, Moderate Sedation/Analgesia, iStat, and glucometer certifications prior to or upon start

• Active RN licensure (or compact eligibility) in the state of Alabama
• ACLS certification required
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 5 years of critical care/ICU nursing experience
• Proficiency in time management, critical thinking, and the ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Smartphone required for physician communication via Tiger Connect application

• Prior experience in a teaching hospital environment with resident physicians
• Experience managing advanced devices such as CRRT, IABP, and arterial sheath pulls in a high-acuity ICU setting
• Background in SICU, MICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU, or PCU/Med-Surg
• Familiarity with Meditech EHR and Space Labs bedside monitoring systems

• Work in a dynamic critical care environment with access to a wide variety of specialty physicians and complex diagnoses including stroke, STEMI, cardiogenic shock, CABGs, and vascular procedures
• Gain experience with advanced critical care technology including Prismaflex CRRT machines, intra-aortic balloon pumps, Arctic Sun, and a variety of ventilator platforms
