Job Overview

Security Officer – Night Shift at Blue Origin, Huntsville, AL.

This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and requires a dedicated commitment and detailed attention toward safe and repeatable human spaceflight.

Responsibilities

• Perform guard post duties, including controlling access to the site via the Visitor Management System, responding to inquiries and issues at guard posts, and executing all post orders assigned to your guard position.
• Support special events, emergent activities, and ad‑hoc assignments as identified by Security Management.
• Understand and comply with Blue Origin badging policies to properly categorize and issue visitor badges.
• Respond to emergency situations (fire, medical, suspicious person, etc.).
• Execute roving patrols as assigned.
• Work a flexible schedule that includes nights, overtime, weekends, and rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid state security officer license or eligibility for one.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability and willingness to stand in a static position for extended periods.
• Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
• Capacity to work in various environments such as cold weather, rain/snow, or heat.
• Climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally during shift.
• Stand or walk on various surfaces for long periods of time.

Desired

• Associate’s degree.
• 2+ years experience in military, law enforcement, overseas security contracting, or corporate security.
• Aptitude for critical incident handling.
• CPR/First Aid certification.
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Extensive team‑oriented experience.
• Impeccable character and integrity.
• Ability to de‑escalate disputes and/or conflicts.

  Blue’s Standard Background Check.
• Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) background check if a military installation is involved.
• Additional requirements for drivers operating Commercial Motor Vehicles (GVW/GVWR over 10,001 lbs.) and other federal regulations.
• Required for certain profiles:
  Ability to obtain and maintain a Merchant Mariner Credential.
