Job Description

Rogers Group Inc. is currently seeking an Experienced Wheel Hoe “Finish Grade” Operator in the Huntsville, AL / North Alabama operations area, Alabama SMA reporting to the General Manager of Construction & Superintendent. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to lead safety, quality, and revenue generation throughout our existing operations and additional operations through growth.

Job Details
  • Starting wage will be $28, can be higher based on verifiable experience.

Job Responsibilities
  • Operate wheel hoe and other heavy or grading equipment to complete grading and fine grading tasks.
  • Operate a Wheel Hoe to complete all required operation tasks.
  • Ability to operate equipment with a high degree of competency, skill, and proficiency and in challenging and unique terrain environments.
  • Backfill and finish grade to specifications in tight, hard to reach areas, and near utilities & curbing.
  • Perform servicing and maintenance of equipment as trained and directed by management.
  • Perform daily pre‑ and post‑inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies.
  • Effective communication skills applicable to position.
  • Properly follow all company policies and OSHA / MSHA / Environmental regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2‑3 years of experience in finish grading.
  • Individual dedicated to working safely at all times.
  • Experienced working with GPS control preferred.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and nights when necessary.
  • Team player.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Distinguish and understand signals.
  • Read and understand grade stakes.
  • Use both hands and feet at the same time.
  • Work in an environment with noise levels that may require hearing protection.
  • Must be able to hear and understand commands from supervisors, warnings from fellow workers, and alarms on equipment.
  • Able to use mechanic’s hand tools and tape measure.
  • Able to crawl and climb on, over, under and inside construction equipment.
  • Lift and carry objects and materials of various weights up to 100 pounds.
  • Good vision, both close‑up and long‑distance, and ability to look forward, side to side, and toward the rear of equipment.
  • Must have good reliable transportation to make it to and from work.
  • Self‑motivated individual – must be able to perform required duties independently, without constant supervision.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and extended hours as needed.
  • Must be able to work outside in all types of weather and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co‑workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Able to provide valid documentation for the I‑9 Immigration requirement.
  • Must be drug free and able to pass a pre‑employment drug screen and possess a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
