We are hiring a Carpenter to support our NASA customer. The Carpenter maintains and repairs building woodwork and equipment such as bins, cribs, counters, benches, partitions, and doors.

• Planning and laying out work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions.
• Using a variety of carpenter's hand tools, portable power tools and standard measuring instruments.
• Making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work.
• Selecting materials necessary for the work.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requires rounded training and experience typically acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

• Tolerating indoor/outdoor construction environments, including noise, dust, temperature variations, and working at heights where required by the project.

• Using hand and power tools (saws, drills, planes, sanders, nailers, levels, measuring tools) to cut, shape, fasten, and finish materials safely and accurately.
• Frequently standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and working in awkward positions to access work areas.

• Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, work orders, and specifications.
• Taking measurements and calculating materials.
• Following safety procedures, using required PPE, and maintaining a safe, organized work area and tools.

Must meet eligibility for a Public Trust background investigation for government-issued credentials and IT access. Applicants must pass a security background check per Redstone Arsenal/MSFC requirements.
