Installation Technician

This is a highly travel-oriented technical position responsible for the installation, startup, alignment, checkout, and service of machine tools and associated equipment at customer facilities throughout North America and internationally. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, experience working with CNC-controlled equipment, and the ability to lead installation activities while collaborating with customer personnel, contractors, and cross-functional teams.

The Installation Technician is responsible for installing, assembling, aligning, commissioning, and supporting Fives machine tools and associated equipment at customer facilities throughout North America and internationally. This position works independently and in collaboration with customer personnel, contractors, and internal teams to ensure machine installations are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with performance and quality specifications.

The role requires a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and CNC systems and performs assignments based on verbal or written direction from the Installation Manager, Service Coordinator/Specialist, engineering documentation, assembly drawings, electrical schematics, and other technical resources. The Installation Technician leads and coordinates installation activities, troubleshoots equipment issues, performs machine checkout and acceptance activities, and supports machine startup and operational readiness.

This position also evaluates machine performance, verifies installation accuracy, conducts health checks and recertifications, provides operator and maintenance training, and performs field service and repair activities as required.
