Overview

Envision Physician Services is seeking a dedicated Emergency Medicine Physician to join its innovative and mission-driven team at the UTMB Correctional Managed Care Estelle Unit ED Campus.

• Annual Volume: 5,110 (about 14 per day)
• 6 bed unit
• Physician coverage: 24 hours daily with 12-24-36 hour shift options
• BC/BE EM, FP, IM, or General Surgery
• ACLS and BLS certification
• Point-of-care ultrasound is available and skill with POCUS is strongly encouraged
• Full-time (120 hrs./mo.), part-time (60 hrs./mo.) & per diem options
• Independent Contractor 1099 Status

UTMB Correctional Managed Care provides compassionate, high-quality health care to incarcerated individuals across Texas through a partnership with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ). The Estelle Unit, located in Huntsville, is home to UTMB's dedicated Emergency Department campus, established in February 2023. This state-of-the-art facility offers 24-hour emergency care not only to the Estelle location but also to inmates from surrounding units.

Equipped with advanced medical resources—includ­ing X-ray, ultrasound, diagnostics lab, respiratory services, telehealth capabilities, a dedicated dialysis treatment area, and a mobile MRI—the ED allows providers to deliver urgent and emergency care swiftly and securely. By minimizing the need to transport patients to outside hospitals, this model enhances both safety and patient outcomes.
