We are Tech Shop, part of the Academic & Research Technology (A&RT) organization at SHSU. A&RT provides technology services, assistance, and consultation to campus. Tech Shop configures and deploys hardware and software, and provides Tier 2 technical support. Our team works closely with the Service Desk, Audio/Video team, and Asset Management team to deliver a high‑quality educational experience.
Primary Responsibilities- Assist with the configuration and installation of various types of computer systems and peripherals.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues reported through our ticketing system.
- Maintain accurate records of all work performed on tickets.
- Maintain active communication via phone and email with the client who placed the work order.
- Assist with team‑wide projects such as moving department computer equipment or replacing computers in academic labs.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Be able to work 15‑28 hours per week.
- Be a current SHSU student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours.
While not a requirement, a good candidate should strive to meet the following qualifications.
- Have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive in Texas.
- Have experience with computer hardware and peripherals.
- Have experience with Windows 10;
MacOS/iOS experience is a plus. - Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to learn new skills and observe processes, policies, and rules.
- Be able to balance work and personal life responsibly.
- Be dependable.
- Have initiative.
- Be team‑oriented.
- Be able to carry loads up to 50 pounds.
