Job Overview

Join the Academic & Research Technologies team at Sam Houston State University as a Student Employee in the Tech Shop. We are seeking two students to fill this role.

As a Student Technician, you will work under the supervision of Tech Shop Technicians to provide Tier 2 Technical Support to campus. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with the configuration and installation of various types of computer systems and peripherals.
• Troubleshooting hardware and software issues reported through our ticketing system.
• Maintaining accurate records of all work performed on tickets.
• Maintaining active communication via phone and email with clients.
• Assisting with team-wide projects.
• Other duties as assigned.

To be considered for this role, you must:

• Be able to work 15-28 hours per week.
• Be a current SHSU student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours.

While not required, preferred candidates should strive to meet the following qualifications:

• Have a valid driver's license and be able to drive in Texas.
• Have experience working with computer hardware and peripherals.
• Have experience working with Windows 10 and/or MacOS/iOS.
• Possess good verbal and written communication skills.
• Be willing to learn new skills and follow processes, policies, and rules.
• Be able to responsibly balance work and personal life.
• Be dependable, have initiative, and be team-oriented.
• Be able to carry loads up to 50 pounds.
