Driver – The University of Texas Medical Branch

The mission of Correctional Managed Care is to address the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD).

Provides for the routine operation and minor maintenance of Correctional Managed Care vehicles in the transportation of materials or passengers.

• Transfers patients and other assigned passengers on and/or off campus, assisting them in entering and exiting the vehicle.
• Delivers and/or retrieves materials as instructed.
• Assists in the loading and unloading of materials from vehicle.
• Maintains a daily log of mileage, number of trips, passengers/cargo, destination, and fuel and oil consumption.
• Inspects the condition of assigned vehicle on a regular basis, including oil, fuel, tires, and water.
• Reports any needed adjustments or repairs to supervisors.
• Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure established for the department.
• Performs related duties as required.

Operation of vehicles, including trucks or vans.

Located within the confines of a prison, jail, or juvenile detention center. Security clearance is required; pre‑employment drug testing is also required.

• High school or equivalent and one (1) year related experience.
• Completion of defensive driver course within 30 days of hire.
• Must possess a current Texas Class "C" driver's license.

Drive vehicles under adverse weather conditions and other emergency driving situations. Salary is commensurate with years of relevant work experience.
