Position DescriptionThe Medical Scribe supports healthcare providers by accurately documenting patient encounters in real time during clinical visits. This position is essential in improving provider efficiency, enhancing patient care, and ensuring accurate and timely medical record‑keeping. The scribe may also assist with administrative and clinical support tasks to maintain smooth clinic operations.

Accurately and efficiently document all patient encounters, including medical histories, physical examinations, diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow‑up instructions, into the electronic health record (EHR).
- Prepare and update patient charts prior to visits by reviewing past medical, surgical, and family histories.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and clinic privacy policies.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, nurses, and other staff members to ensure coordinated and efficient care.
- Help track and ensure completion of lab results, imaging reports, and referral documentation.
- Contribute to a positive, team‑oriented environment that reflects the clinic’s commitment to community health and rural healthcare accessibility.
Job Duties
- Assist with front‑desk or basic clinical duties such as rooming patients, taking vitals, or coordinating follow‑up appointments (if trained and within scope).
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- College coursework or degree in health sciences, biology, or related field preferred.
- Prior experience as a medical scribe, medical assistant, or healthcare support role is highly desirable but not required.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Athena, Cerner, etc.) preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced clinical environment.
- Understanding of basic medical terminology and anatomy.
- Commitment to patient confidentiality and professional conduct.
- Adaptability and willingness to assist with various clinic tasks typical in a rural healthcare setting.
