Job SummaryThe Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist performs anesthesia management of patients undergoing surgical, diagnostic or therapeutic procedures and airway management or cardiopulmonary resuscitation in collaboration with physicians and other licensed professionals. Administers epidural medication for pain management as ordered by the physician and performs only those services allowed by South Dakota law. A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist must be immediately available on site from 07:00‑15:00, Monday‑Friday, and on‑call 24 hours a day.

- Graduate of an accredited registered nurse anesthetist program approved by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
- Licensed and currently registered as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in South Dakota and must hold current ACLS, NRP and PALS certificates.
- Physical demands necessitate frequent assistance of patients which requires knowledge and proper use of body mechanics in all phases of patient care.
- Requires a high degree of social sensitivity and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with clients, groups of clients and health care personnel inside and outside the agency. Works on own initiative, uses independent judgement, and demonstrates leadership abilities with good oral and written communication skills.
- Requires frequent walking, standing, sitting, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking, hearing and moderate lifting (exerting/lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly).
- Risks exposure to communicable or infectious disease and injury from the performance of assigned duties.
- Subject to inside environmental conditions (protection from weather but not necessarily from temperature change) and to atmospheric conditions (one or more of the following that affect the respiratory system or skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases or poor ventilation).
