Job Title: Associate Director of Operations

Location: Hurricane, UT

Department/Division: CREW - Mountain West

Status: Regular Full-Time, Salaried (Exempt)

Hours:

Full-time, 40 hours/week with additional hours as needed with some adjustment expected to accommodate specific projects and program needs. Some evening and weekend hours may be occasionally required.

Travel: Regional travel required.

Position Summary

The Associate Director of Operations (ADO) for the ACE Division will work under the direction of the Division Director to manage a variety of programmatic and operational programs and initiatives. The ADO is directly responsible for leading and developing innovative programmatic strategies and ensuring Division compliance with program operations. This position is an integral part in identifying and coordinating training and professional development opportunities that support both ACE staff and members as well as ensuring that all projects and programs are well managed and working closely with the Division Director with improving the overall member experience on projects.

ACE programming in MTW runs from March to late November each year. During non-programming windows the ADO will focus on project and program reporting, developing and delivering training and project development.

The ADO will frequently interact with ACE’s staff, members, project partners and the general public and as such is expected to maintain a professional demeanor, positive attitude, and willingness to act as an ambassador of ACE’s program at all times. The Associate Director will need to be flexible, adaptable, and enthusiastic while working in a fast‑paced office environment. Leadership and forward‑thinking are important assets in this position as the Division continues to evolve.

Functions And Responsibilities
  • Oversee and support the division field support staff (project managers)
  • Interact and communicate with Staff and members in order to foster an open and inclusive environment
  • Train and support Division staff to coordinate and conduct ACE trainings and ensure technical trainings are delivered to every new member
  • Foster an environment that is anti‑bullying, anti‑harassment and anti‑discrimination
  • Identify, coordinate, and schedule needed training to prepare and support staff and members.
  • Responsible for implementing performance action contracts, suspensions for violations of ACE Policy.
  • Create, edit and finalize member schedule for each project cycle with considerations to member experience, skill set and project needs
  • Maintain and improve current programmatic and operational strategies and develop new strategies to increase the productivity of the program.
  • Work closely with land management project partners to plan and schedule projects and assign Project Managers to appropriate projects/training.
  • Work with Division Director and Project Partners on project scheduling and growth
  • Ensure that all project measurables and goals are met, including communicating and supporting project partners with project implementation
  • Assist in grant writing and new project and program development as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and three years of related professional experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Practical knowledge of or experience with similar corps‑oriented, non‑profit organizations, land‑based federal agencies such as the Department of Interior or other federal or state agencies.
