Position Title

Selling Technician

About the Role

Join Service Experts to perform diagnostic and service work on residential and/or light commercial HVAC equipment and accessories. This full‑time, regular position will report to the Field Supervisor or General Manager and is located at 3744 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane, WV 25526.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform residential and/or light commercial service and maintenance calls under minimal supervision.
  • Analyze, diagnose, and resolve customer problems in a courteous, professional, timely, and accurate manner.
  • Present comfort options of residential HVAC and water heater products and services to new and established customers.
  • Strengthen the customer experience through a consultative sales approach focused on customer retention and satisfaction.
  • Diagnose and perform services on heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment and accessories in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Inspect equipment and perform diagnostics to identify potential problems and prevent premature and unexpected breakdowns.
  • Complete routine maintenance and equipment cleaning as needed.
  • Deliver and remove parts and equipment necessary to complete service work.
  • Use hand‑held devices to record all required information on customer calls and complete all forms and paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Collect payment from customers and communicate with dispatch to provide accurate status reports.
  • Promote products and services to customers and coordinate replacement product sales leads with the Sales and Service Coordinator.
  • Ensure company property, vehicles, and tools are maintained and properly accounted for.
  • Represent the company professionally, honestly, and ethically in all business matters and activities.
  • Follow standard procedures and processes for vehicle stocking, part return, and ordering.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
  • Maintain regular, reliable attendance.

  • Report any unsafe conditions or hazards to the direct supervisor or manager immediately.
  • Report any contravention of legislation or company policy to the supervisor or manager immediately.
  • Correct substandard acts or conditions within area of control.
  • Use and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as prescribed by company program.
  • Never remove or render ineffective any safety guards, devices, or clothing required to be in place.
  • Comply with general rules as prescribed by company program.
  • Operate devices or equipment as prescribed by company program.
  • Participate in safety initiatives, teams, or committees.
  • Report all injuries or incidents promptly as required by company program.
  • Provide input on developing safety initiatives and plans to eliminate exposures that could cause accidents.
  • Work in compliance with applicable legislative requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Solid understanding of HVAC systems and experience as an Installer, Maintenance, or Service Technician.
  • Technical training certification.
  • Proven HVAC sales experience; preference for direct selling to consumers.
  • Effective communication skills for a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to translate customer concerns into business solutions.
  • Commitment to high‑quality, customer‑focused service.
  • All valid licensing or certification required by local, state, and federal regulations.
  • EPA and safety certifications required.
  • Proficient mechanical aptitude and ability to operate required tools and equipment.
  • Proficiency in reading wiring diagrams and troubleshooting electrical, refrigerant, and duct systems.
  • Ability to start up and balance airflow, align belts and pulleys on all systems.
  • Proficiency in installing basic duct fittings and repairing electronic air cleaners, refrigeration systems, and related equipment.
  • Effective time‑management and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Availability for flexible hours and on‑call shifts as needed.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and maneuver in attics, basements, and crawl spaces up to 300 lb loads.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lb and carry up to 50 lb.
