Assistant Site Manager
Help lead the daily operations of one of Lil' Hawks' Early Learning Preschool sites, support classroom staff, and create a safe, welcoming environment for children and families. We're looking for someone with knowledge of early childhood education and strong communication and leadership skills. An associate's degree and eligibility for KDHE director-level licensing are required. Early childhood teaching experience is preferred. Starting pay: $22 per hour.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Supervises of the daily operation of the assigned site.
- Supports the daily operations of the assigned site in collaboration with the Site Operations Manager.
- Assists in ensuring the facility is clean, safe, and compliant with all sanitation and maintenance protocols; reports facility needs promptly.
- Helps monitor compliance with state, local, and federal regulations (e.g., KDHE, Head Start Performance Standards) through walkthroughs, checklists, and file reviews.
- Provides direct supervision to classroom and support staff as delegated by the Site Operations Manager, acts as site lead in Site Operation Manager's absence.
- Assists with schedules for all staff and children to ensure that the child to teacher ratio is correct for each room and the facility as a whole, and that all classrooms have daily coverage.
- Supports the onboarding and training of new staff and substitutes; ensures staff have access to needed materials and information.
- Assists in planning site-level training for staff;
Collaborates with the management team to train all staff on district, state, local and federal regulations, ensuring required hours and training topic areas are covered. (Head Start Performance Standards, KDHE, District policy and procedures, Fire Marshal) - Participates in team discussions around child behavior and learning concerns; helps implement strategies to support classroom environments. Collaborates with health and family services staff to ensure all required medical documentation for children is on file, including physicals, dental exams, and meal modifications, while actively supporting efforts to maintain regular child attendance.
- Maintains open, positive communication with staff; helps reinforce performance expectations and follow-up on accountability.
- Assists with tracking and monitoring required health documentation for children; supports communication with families around physicals, immunizations, dental, and meal plans.
- Coordinates with the Education Manager and Site Operations Manager to maintain inventory and suggest instructional material purchases.
- Supports site-level professional development and training efforts by assisting in planning, scheduling, and follow-up.
- Helps resolve family concerns professionally and in alignment with program policies; escalates issues as appropriate.
- Assists with monitoring and maintaining accurate attendance and child data systems (e.g., Child Plus, Tru Time).
- Helps maintain up-to-date staff and student records and ensures documentation is submitted to the appropriate departments.
- Participates in program improvement efforts including the Community Assessment, Self-Assessment, and Program Goal tracking.
- Supports the collection and aggregation of program data for PIR, Policy Council, and other reports.
- Provides leadership presence in classrooms and public areas to support staff, children, and family engagement.
- Acts as liaison with district departments to ensure strong communication and follow-through on site needs (e.g., nutrition, facilities, tech).
- May serve as the Site Operations Manager in their absence, representing the site at required meetings and ensuring operational continuity.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises education staff and family services staff assigned to the center, as delegated by the Site Operations Manager. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's and USD 308 policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems in concert with the management team and the Director of Early Learning.
