Overview
Engineering Systems Technician at the City of Hutchinson, Kansas.
The Engineering Systems Technician performs or assists in design, programming, testing, maintenance, repair, and calibration of the City's SCADA (Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition) systems and asset management software. The role works with City IT and GIS staff and supports the Waste Water Treatment and related facilities.
What You'll Need To Be Successful- EDUCATION:
A high school diploma or GED is required. A minimum of two (2) years of technical training in electronic maintenance is preferred. - EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of one year of related experience in electronics and/or radio equipment repair and installation. Experience with Wonderware, Allen Bradley RSLogix 5000, and Siemens LC2000 is preferred. - CERTIFICATIONS:
Must possess and maintain a valid Kansas Driver's License with acceptable driving record. Journeyman Electrical license is preferred.
- Perform daily inspections and adjustments/repairs on all instrumentation and control systems used to monitor and operate the Wastewater Treatment facility, Water Treatment Facility, water production stations, pressure stations, water storage tanks, and wastewater lift stations.
- Perform functional tests, routine maintenance, and preventive care for electronic control equipment including PLCs, RTUs, variable speed drives, switch gear, radio telemetry systems; diagnose, troubleshoot, update, and repair malfunctioning recording and transmitting devices.
- Respond to after-hour alarms and emergencies as required.
- Calibrate and configure control systems; maintain calibration records; install/modify instrumentation and control systems to meet plans and specifications; modify, design, and change control circuits as needed to support additional systems or temporary operations.
- Provide direction for outside contractors, engineers, and vendors for installation and maintenance; inspect installations for compatibility with control systems interfaces.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist in requisitions or purchases of materials, parts, and services; monitor SCADA system performance and maintain required reports.
- Update the asset management system; review system reports for pending work orders and preventive maintenance; prepare schematics and records of installed system parameters; document system changes, performance, and failures as needed.
- Collaborate with GIS staff to maintain databases for water and wastewater systems and assist in using GIS programs.
- Provide software administration support for asset/work management in City departments; train users, troubleshoot problems, perform maintenance, and assist with system upgrades.

Salary: $22.10 - $33.18 per hour
