Overview

Role Purpose
The Paint Coating Specialist will be responsible for overseeing, preparing, applying, and monitoring paint coatings within the plant to ensure high-quality finishes, adherence to specifications, and compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards. This role ensures consistent coating application processes, supports production efficiency, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities- Operate, monitor, and maintain coating equipment and systems in the paint plant.
- Prepare surfaces and materials for coating, ensuring cleanliness and correct pretreatment.
- Apply coatings in accordance with product specifications, customer requirements, and industry standards.
- Inspect coating quality through visual checks, thickness measurements, adhesion tests, and other quality control methods.
- Troubleshoot coating defects (e.g., runs, sags, pinholes, orange peel, blistering) and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including handling of hazardous materials, PPE use, and waste disposal procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of coating processes, production data, and quality inspections.
- Collaborate with production, quality assurance, and maintenance teams to optimise coating operations.
- Support continuous improvement efforts, including process optimisation and cost reduction initiatives.
- Train staff or operators in proper coating techniques and safety standards.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in paint coating operations within an industrial/manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of industrial coatings (powder, liquid, electrostatic, or other specialised systems). Experience with automated coating equipment, spray guns, booths, curing ovens, and related machinery.
- Understanding of surface preparation techniques and coating quality standards.
- Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations related to coatings.
- Excellent attention to detail and quality-focused mindset.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, safety data sheets (SDS), and coating instructions.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
