Principal Responsibilities- Lead EMS programs or EMS district – serve as program lead for operational and business unit initiatives.
- Develop and maintain ambulance deployment models, staffing plans, and joint training with public safety and hospital partners.
- Respond to EMS calls and act as lead paramedic when necessary.
- Support community events, public‑health initiatives, and district‑specific trainings and meetings.
- Assist in annual budget planning and resource allocation.
- Lead or support the incident‑command structure during major events and investigate internal concerns, complaints, and incidents.
- Recruit, onboard, coach, provide feedback, and monitor staff performance metrics.
- Ensure staff maintains required certifications and licensure.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to improve operational efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s or vocational degree in Paramedicine, Emergency Medical Services, or related field within 36 months of hire.
- At least 2 years of EMS or healthcare leadership experience.
- At least 2 years as a paramedic or EMT in a pre‑hospital setting.
- Successfully pass Fitness for Duty testing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Medical Services, Public Health, or a related field.
- Certified Paramedic – Office of EMS (MN) or WI Emergency Medical Services (WI) required upon hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support (American Heart Association or American Red Cross) required upon hire; recertification required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (American Heart Association or American Red Cross) required upon hire; for employees hired prior to June 1 2025, required by January 1 2027; recertification required.
- FEMA 100 – Introduction to Incident Command System; FEMA 200 – Basic Incident Command for Initial Response; FEMA 700 – National Incident Management System; FEMA 300 – Intermediate Incident Command; FEMA 400 – Advanced Incident Command; FEMA 800 – Introduction to the National Response Framework – all required within one year of hire.
- Valid driver’s license required upon hire; MN and WI residents must obtain a valid driver’s license in their state within 60 days of employment.
- Very heavy work: lifting weights exceeding 100 lb. occasionally, over 50 lb. frequently.
$39.19 to $53.72 per hour. Pay reflects the base hiring range; starting rate depends on experience, education, union agreement, and shift differentials.
