Overview
Job Title:
Special Procedures Technologist. Department:
Radiology.
Reports To:
Radiology Supervisor.
Location:
Hutchinson Hospital. FLSA Status:
Non-exempt.
The special procedures technologist operates the CT scanner radiographic equipment to include CT, X-ray, and Fluoroscopic, and makes radiographs of designated portions of the patient’s body.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Enter all exam charges into system and/or direct them to Material Services and Pharmacy as appropriate.
- Perform high quality CT radiological examinations on patients of all ages, addressing and responding to their individual needs appropriately.
- Work with the Radiologist to learn and follow their preferred imaging protocols, and to provide them with accurate information regarding the patient’s symptoms and physical history.
- Maintain exam room, equipment, and supplies in an orderly fashion, so as to always be ready for the next patient.
- Maintains education, knowledge, and training required to provide up-to-date quality care to patients and to stay current with CEU requirements as required by the ARRT.
- Maintain accurate records to meet regulatory and professional standards.
- Participate in working all shifts in the department to include weekends and holidays.
- Possess the ability to react objectively, using good judgment in crisis situations and on specific issues.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.

- Reports any health/medical errors.
- Observes all Environment of Care policies and reports safety risks or hazards immediately.
- Graduation from an accredited school Radiologic Technology providing education and training in treatment of patients in all age groups described.
- Satisfactory completion of a clinical rotation in Radiology
- Appropriate CT training
(will be primary source verified by HR)
- Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or Registry eligible.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Two years of training under a qualified and licensed radiologist as stated by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists preferred.
- Working knowledge of anatomy; understanding principles of physics and electricity required.
- Knowledge of methods of exposure to obtain the required films and be able to set up and operate equipment is required.
- Working knowledge of contrast media is required.
- Ability to understand variations of anatomical positions such as supine, prone, lateral, and upright and trendelenburg required.
- Sufficient knowledge of patient care and sterile techniques to deal with all types of conditions required.
