Overview
FAR Inspections is seeking highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required; strong time‑management skills and the ability to meet deadlines are essential.
Responsibilities- Complete most exterior inspections in 5–6 minutes; interior photos are required after a property goes vacant (about 10% of jobs).
- Finish all inspections within four days of assignment.
- Document general property conditions and determine occupancy using industry standards.
- Take nine or more photos with brief comments and complete a short form in the mobile application.
- Travel extensively within the assigned county territory, often making numerous stops throughout the day.
- Computer with reliable internet access.
- Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus since you’ll pay for your own fuel).
- Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
- Printer.
- Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.
This is a 1099 position. Each inspection is paid at a flat rate that varies by county and volume. Expected earnings are equivalent to $30‑$40 per hour.
You may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week, depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural. Lower‑volume counties offer higher rates; higher‑volume counties offer lower rates. There is no fixed maximum number of inspections per month, but the work is consistent from month to month.
No additional mileage reimbursement is provided beyond the flat fee per inspection.
