Technical Writer

Overview

Our client is a major transportation agency responsible for connecting communities and supporting mobility across the DC region. The Technical Writer will convert technical, operational, or system-based content into user-friendly language tailored to specific audiences. This is a full-time contract opportunity based in Hyattsville, MD, paying $46.77 per hour.

• Create, update, and version control SOPs, process guides, user manuals, job aids, FAQs, policy documents, and technical references.
• Partner with SMEs, project managers, and functional areas to gather accurate content and confirm technical correctness.
• Establish and apply templates, style guides, naming conventions, and formatting standards to ensure consistency and usability across materials.

• 5+ years of experience with creating, updating, and version controlling SOPs, process guides, user manuals, job aids, FAQs, policy documents, and technical references.
• Proven experience partnering with SMEs, project managers, and functional teams to gather content.
• Strong technical writing skills and ability to communicate complex information effectively.
• Familiarity with documentation standards and formatting.
• Industry experience in transportation or related fields is preferred.
