Compensation: $90,000–$100,000 +10% bonus
About the RoleA leading regional food service distribution company is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee overnight warehouse and distribution operations at its multi-temperature facility in Hyattsville, MD.
This hands-on leadership role is ideal for an operations professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment. You’ll manage end-to-end warehouse activities—ensuring smooth shipping, receiving, inventory accuracy, and food safety compliance—while driving continuous improvement across all operational metrics.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage third-shift warehouse operations, ensuring on-time, accurate order fulfillment across ambient, refrigerated, and frozen zones
- Maintain compliance with food safety standards (HACCP, FSMA) and warehouse best practices
- Monitor and improve KPIs in areas of safety, productivity, labor efficiency, and quality control
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including transportation, procurement, sales, HR, and accounting
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar frameworks
- Support organizational growth through strong team development and process optimization
- 3+ years of progressive leadership experience in warehouse or distribution operations
- Experience in food service or wholesale distribution, including multi-temperature environments
- In-depth understanding of inventory systems, quality control, food safety regulations, and labor management
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in 24/7 operations
- Experience launching new facilities or building operational teams from the ground up
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
- Proficiency with WMS/ERP systems and warehouse automation tools
- Demonstrated success managing operations through growth and transition phases
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Preferred: Advanced degree or professional certifications (Six Sigma, PMP, CPIM)
